Storyteller, Judith Black, is the right person for the job! (She was
blacklisted by a community arts council for using the word "bum.")
With the wit and the chutzpah that got her banned, she gets the censors
going again with these original stories about the fantasies and realities
of our sexual and emotional lives.
"A
mischievous, heartfelt meditation on the search for sexual and romantic
fulfillment, Black's lively presentation is more of a one-woman show than
a session of storytelling."
The
Boston Globe
"Finally a storyteller has come along whodeparts from the traditional
goody-two-shoes image to dish some dirt....One of the 'TEN BEST SMALL
THEATER PLAYS' of the year!"
The Boston Phoenix
The first act runs the gamut from a fantasy about how the devil keeps
us on our toes, to thoughts about "oral gratification." The
centerpiece of the first act, The Aerobics of Life , is about a precarious
balance between physical fitness, self esteem and a new romance. The
second act is devoted to a single tale about what happens when Deborah, a
sociology professor, meets Simon, an engineer, at a lecture on cancer.
About this story:
"She received a standing ovation after her engrossing, often
hilarious, and in the end poignant portrait of a contemporary urban
romance."
Chicago Tribune
"With brilliant use of physical detail she consistently makes us
laugh at the machinations her characters put themselves through."
The Boston Globe
